The Penguin has now kicked off on HBO, and the first episode of The Batman spin-off is a grisly return to the dark underworld of Gotham. It mostly focuses on Oz Cobb's new bid for power following Carmine Falcone's death, but there is a little subtle tease in there for fans of Matt Reeves' movie.

The Penguin is finally here, the much anticipated spin-off from the hit 2022 film The Batman which centers on Colin Farrell's gangster Oz Cobb. First reactions to the show have already been overwhelmingly positive,

Thankfully, while the writer-director refines his vision, the HBO original series The Penguin will rekindle our interest in the Reeves-verse, following the character of Oswald Cobb (an unrecognizable Colin Farrell) as he maneuvers the power vacuum created by the assassination of crime boss Carmine Falcone (played by Mark Strong in the series).

HBO Original limited series The Penguin picks up where Matt Reeves left off with The Batman. Colin Farrell stars in the crime drama as Oswald “Oz” Cobb, otherwise known as the Penguin, alongside Cristin Milioti and Rhenzy Feliz.

"The Penguin" is ready to take us back to Gotham City. The new HBO show spins out of Matt Reeves' "The Batman" movie starring Robert Pattinson. This time, the focus is all on the crime families of the city and how Oz Cobb (Colin Farrell) - the titular Penguin - climbs the ranks of the city's dark underbelly.

At the end of The Batman, The Riddler was committed to Arkham and most of Gotham was flooded after the retaining walls around the city were blown up. The new limited series The Penguin takes place about a week after the events of that film,
